The Future of Frisco Station

Emily DeMoss – Associate

Frisco Station is a 242-acre mixed development announced just four years ago. The sprawling development includes office, luxury hotel, retail, restaurant and apartments. Construction just wrapped at the second office building at Frisco Station, which is 210,000 SF.  Tenants in the first phase of office include Fiserv, Brierley+Partners, Equinix, and 17,000 SF of Executive Workspace, among others. While still leasing up the second building, VanTrust, the developer, plans to have a permit for the third office building in January 2020. The developer also has The Hub under construction which will be home to retail and entertainment.

While all of this is exciting for the area, Frisco Station has even bigger things coming. The development includes a landing pad for helicopters and other flying vehicles for Uber Elevate. The program is set to launch in 2023. This will be Uber Air’s first launch and testing site. Uber plans to obtain Federal Aviation Administration approval for flights. If all goes to plan, the company will launch official flights from Frisco Station within the next five years, potentially making Frisco home of the flying taxis.
